One sleepless night I was having a hard time finding any peace so I got up & cried out to God. I starting going through cards people had sent me because there were many encouraging words. But I came across a scripture card with the verse in Isaiah 49 that says He has carved me in the palm of His hand. After that He was reminding me of countless other scriptures He has spoken to me about never leaving me alone. This is His heart to all of His children.

One day instead of focusing so much on my loss, I decided to focus on the girls gain...
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” –Philippians 1:21

This song came from that. I'm eagerly anticipating what it will be like!

What Are You Living For?

What are you living for? What are you trusting for?
What are you building for your life?
What are you praying for? Are you knocking on heaven's door...
Only to find the heavens brass once more?
Maybe you're building shaky bridges that will crumble.
Maybe you're building ivory temples that will tumble and fall.
At the sound...when He calls your name...
When all is shaken; what will remain? What will remain?

chorus:
Only what’s done in Jesus’ name
He is the sure foundation, He’s the rock of our salvation
And His love is still the same as when He took our shame
He’s the name above all names...He will remain.

What are you hoping for? What are you reaching for?
Where is that ‘lucky star’ you’re wishing for?
What are you searching for? Tell me, where is that open door?
To the dreams that have been hiding in your heart?
Are you chasing pretty rainbows that just fade away?
Are your dreams just made of vapors that will only melt away?
At the sound...when He calls your name...
When all is shaken; what will remain? What will remain?

bridge:
You know His Kingdom cannot be shaken.
His righteousness and all His ways remain.
He has promised a fruitful harvest,
If in every word of His we will obey...
His word remains! (repeat chorus)

I wrote this song after observing ground zero on a visit to New York City with my son Joey and two older daughters with our Church Youth Group. When I saw everything leveled with the exception of two metal beams in the shape of a cross I thought of the scripture in Hebrews that says...

“See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks.” Then it goes on to say that God has promised to shake the heavens and the earth; removing what can be shaken - that is, created things - so that what cannot be shaken will remain. It goes on to say, “Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” ~Hebrews 12:25-29

Buildings can be shaken. Our own human efforts and accomplishments can be shaken. Our ideas and dreams can be shaken. However, our relationships with other believers and with God Himself CANNOT be shaken, because those are the only things made to last for eternity. I felt challenged then, as I do now to continue to build my life on things of eternal value. Things that belong to the Kingdom of Heaven and of our God. Because sooner or later all that is not built on Jesus will be shaken and we will be left with nothing but what was done in Jesus’ Holy Name. I challenge you, as you read these words to “Not refuse Him who speaks”... but take to heart His words of ETERNAL LIFE.

I had no idea my girls would be taken ‘HOME’ when I woke up New Years Day. But our relationships with each other and the Lord were built on Jesus’ name. They were ready to meet Jesus face to face. Although it’s not an easy road, we, too, were ready to embrace all that God had in store for us and our girls, because they are just as much a part of our future as they ever were before. And that is because we have NOT refused Him (God) who speaks to our hearts daily words of Comfort, Hope and Love. ~Deb
